Tenir
Tenir stepped out of his apartment. The hall was not quite so much daunting as it was... unnerving. He had thought there'd be more noise around. Inside the room he'd just left were still-packed boxes, a neat pile of packing peanuts, and a few personal possessions he'd wanted to have out first. There'd been a chilling finality to the sound of the moving van's motor fading away. He hadn't seen anyone up and about yet, but then again, that was to be expected. It was mid-afternoon - people would be going out soon, for whatever reason, and he might mingle then. He took a tentative step in the general direction of the exit, then nearly jumped (rather counter-productive) as the tremor hit a little more than he wanted. He stepped very, very cautiously, trying not to disturb anyone still inside, all the way until he'd left the building. He stood right outside for a moment, then let out a breath. He really, really didn't want to make a poor first impression! He had to be more delicate! Alright. Just go walk over to the square, watch the people, talk to a few if they were out there, maybe go into a shop or two. ...Simple.

Bonfire The brown cat yawned as he walked down the streets. Aldara was back at the house, tidying up, and Bonfire had needed to steer clear of a flower shop when he saw Patches near it. Even though it was his turn to watch Ald, Bon had never really thought that necessary. Aldara could protect herself. Bonfire wanted some adventure in his life!
No sooner had he thought that, then he stumbled onto a street, where the two-legged light-furred creature known as Tenir stood. That's good! I wanted a word with him, anyways. How come he never greets me, but greets my siblings all the time? Patches has complained about it countless times, and Fireflies has given me at least ten conspiracies about it.
"Hullo-- Tenir, right? I have a question for you." He called out to the creature, careful to not let smoke escape while he spoke. Sometimes Bonfire smoked, it was natural for him, and sometimes he became his Dragonfyre Form without meaning to--also very natural, but not very comforting to others.

Tenir
As he was recuperating from the stress of walking out, he jolted at the sound of a voice. It was a rather familiar one too - the sound of Bonfire's voice. Tenir had lived in a detached house with some relatives before he'd moved here, and he'd come across the cat siblings many a time. Aldara - she was nice, and energetic, and he really liked talking to her - and Fireflies - he liked to be around someone who shared his constant anxiety - and Patches - xe kind of worried him with how protective xe was, but xe'd never harmed him before - and finally, Bonfire.
He might have had a little teeny tiny crush on Bonfire.
He was, ah, justified, though! Bon was so self-confident and adventurous... and, y'know, not being any of those qualities, Tenir didn't experience much of that in his daily life! He talked to the other cats, sure, but not Bonfire. He was worried he'd mess something up if he talked to Bonfire. And now the guy was asking him aquestion justbecalm
"A-ah. Yes. I'm Tenir. You're hot."
I SAID CALM, TENIR.
okay i promise i have a valid explanation for that comment,, that tenbae can use,, (don't hurt me i just ship it so much)

Bonfire Good, good. Proper name. But-- ohDiren. Was Tenir really going there, or was it the flame-heat? OH NO HAD HE FORGOTTEN THE FLAME-HEAT AGAIN?! Bonfire had never been so careless as to not turn down his flame-heat, but maybe he had been this time?! No, that didn't quite make sense. If his flame-heat was still high, his organs would be burning right now. And there would be a considerable amount of pain. Seeing as the cat felt no pain currently, it wasn't likely to be the flame-heat.
"I'm sorry if temperature is bothering you, though that could also be an answer to my question. Annoying side effect of having fire-y powers; people who prefer cool places avoid you like the plague because of temperatures. No, anyways, my question is how come you seem to avoid me? My siblings-- Patches, Aldara, and Fireflies; you know them --tell me you're polite enough. So why avoid me?" There. That made everything simpler. Bonfire's temperature was usually fairly high, due to the fire, so that's how he chose to explain the 'you're hot' comment.
Though, the other explanation lingered at the back of his head, the brown cat shied away from it. Partially because ACK like romance NO and partially because it was awkward. He was pretty sure he was straight(though he had never fallen in love before, so maybe not?) and the other explanation would just be extremely awkward for both of them because of that.

Tenir
He blinked for a moment, now quite sure what he'd said - then realization dawned on him. "Aaah! No! Sorry! I didn't- didn't mean-" He felt his face heat up, thank Niekada for fur. "I just- thought that- you must be hot, because of the, ah, fire! D'you, um, want something? Or, I mean, of course you do, um," This was not how he'd pictured his first encounter going. Just answer the question, Ten. "I, ah. Um. Just never figured out how. I-I mean! Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you're great, just, the, ah, fire. The fire's, um, um, what's the word, intimidating." Wasn't a lie, not the whole truth... good. He enjoyed people's company, but people close to him... he didn't know how to deal with people close to him. Even if he'd never formally met Bonfire, the cat was quickly falling into that category, and it was honestly a bit frightening.
Not that everything wasn't a bit frightening. Um.

Bonfire He nodded. Of course, that made sense. Fire was very intimidating, even for him; and he was totally fireproof. His answer makes more sense, anyways. Temperature, for Diren's sake Bonfire! Oh no-- oh noIdon'tmeanit I didn't think that! I didn't-- noooooo! His mind let out a groan, because the phrase 'for Diren's sake Bonfire' made him change into his Dragonfyre form. Whether spoken aloud, thought to himself, or just heard, it always forced him into the form-- there were, of course, other ways, but that was the most reliable.
Bonfire could already feel his snout lengthening and becoming more scaley, horns sprouting from the back of his head and smaller scaley horns all down his back, and his tail elongating. This transformation took a mere twenty seconds, but in those twenty seconds, his life began to crumble. Nobody was supposed to see this except his siblings, it was incriminating! Other creatures just hated him for it. Bonfire felt his ears turning red with embarrasment and fury towards himself, as well as shame.
"I-- I have to go-- thi--" The tom stuttered as he turned, trying to run but tripping over his longer tail. Bonfire felt even more shame rising within himself, as he tried to get up so he could run; still next to Tenir. He was very aware that this form was a monster.

Tenir
He was relieved immediately when Bon nodded. Whew. The firecat believed him. But he noticed a look of panic come into the other's eyes, and he began to... change. Fur hardened into scales, Horns grew, an elongated tail... he looked like a wingless dragon more than a cat now. Tenir took a step back, eyes wide, alarmed, and Bon seemed to be... terrified? Humiliated? Whatever it was, he stuttered something Tenir couldn't discern and tried to run away before tripping over himself in his haste. He got up slowly, and, blinking out of the initial shock, Tenir ran over to help him up. "I-I, um, are you, are you alright? Did the, the, the... the change hurt, do you, um, need to, to, lie down, I can..." He trailed off at the end, once Bon had stood up, and backed off a bit, still sending him nervous glances. If it'd been something he'd done, and it'd hurt him somehow, he'd never forgive himself!
okay,, but,, ten's stutter is based off friendbae's and i'm not ashamed that i know it so well :'))

Bonfire He panicked again as Tenir came closer. OhnoOhnoI'mgonnahurthim! I'm gonna hurt him and he'll be dead and it'll all be my fault why did I think that stupid phrase? WHAT IF IT TURNS INTO ANOTHER FLICKS SITUATION I DONT WANT THIS TO BE ANOTHER FLICKS SITUATION HE NEEDS TO LEAVE RIGHT NOW OR I MIGHT HURT HIM ACK!
"S-- Stay away from me! I might hurt you!" Bonfire felt a familiar heat rising up within him, something he would need to release before he could leave this form. And he couldn't release it HERE! Not in the middle of a street, it could harm anyone! The Dragonfyre had to stay contained, always, it had to be contained! Bonfire tripped over his new long tail again, and falling backwards. His horns got stuck in the ground, and the cat-dragon cursed under his breath.
"I'm a monster-- I can't control it-- stay BACK!" He hissed, a forked tongue showing. That was new-- he was becoming more dragonlike every time he transformed. It was a parasite, it wouldn't stop, Bonfire was finding it harder and harder to fix it... a single tear began to fall down his cheek. He didn't want to hurt anybody!

Bonfire was panicking, why was he panicking, oh void had he done something wrong? He tripped again, and Tenir tried to come closer and help again, but hesitated as he continued shouting. Oh, and, now he was, he was crying, he... Tenir's throat was closing up, his heartbeat was getting faster, he hadn't wanted to... was this is fault, he... he'd only... the pale green Jautruma felt like he was going to be sick, this...
There was a tingling along his fur, and even beyond that, in his blood and muscle and bone and the bits of void that flowed through his flesh.
His eyes were shut tight to keep tears from coming out.
He just wanted to HELP.
He breathed deeply, tried to calm himself down, focus on the problem at hand, and opened his eyes.
The first thing he noticed was hey, I'm glowing. The second thing was that he was glowing a very bright spring green, laced with brown. The third thing was that he'd spontaneously taken a chunk out of the ground, no bigger than his head, and was currently levitating it in the form of a tightly packed ball. Briefly distracted, he found that by concentrating, he could separate the materials inside, and by thinking about what he wanted to make, he could make objects from metal or objects from soil. He wasn't sure why this was relevant to anything at this point, but it was... sort of amazing. He snapped out of a magic-induced reverie, though, by realizing that Bonfire was still there. Wow. Embarrassing, much. He stared blankly at the dragon-cat for a moment, before he said in a burst of confident clarity, "What do you need?" Metal things. He could make metal things. What it would do, he wasn't sure, but he could make metal things, or soil things, and that could be useful. If he needed... well, whatever he needed, he could try. And he had a feeling he'd gotten Bon's attention away from his own apparent insecurities enough to tell him.
I apologize for how awful this post is,, i had to tie the fact that he's a magic boi in there somehow hh

Bonfire The tomcat closed his eyes, forcing himself to keep steady. Even though fear was beginning to rack his body. He forced the flames to stay within him. Wait... wait no! He hadn't meant to freak Tenir out! OhDiren now he was glowing why was he glowing was that good or bad what was going on ohnoohnoohnoohno had he broken Tenir somehow??? Were creatures like Tenir not supposed to freak out?? That was a very nice color but-- NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO THINK OF THAT BONFIRE!
There was levitating dirt. Was Tenir making the dirt levitate? WHY WAS DIRT LEVITATING THIS WAS NOT OKAY ACK. Okay Bon, you're starting to sound like Fireflies. Calm down. If Tenir can make soil levitate, maybe he can somehow make a boulder for you to melt. That would fix the problem. Oh, and he can apparently separate the metal from the dirt, which is good, cause that can make it easier to make a boulder right Imean okay stop talking to yourself in your head you are not two beings you are you shutup and say something--
"A boulder-- Something big and heat-resistant-- I need to release a--" Bonfire had to clamp his mouth shut at this point, because the fireball was trying to escape again. And he was facing Tenir. And he couldn't-- he WOULDN'T --hurt the two-legged creature. And if he had continued trying to talk, the fireball would've emerged, and Tenir would've been injured with at least third degree burns.
Bon could only hope Tenir made the connection between him having fire-elemented powers and him needing to release something.

Confident clarity started to fade as Bonfire stared at him. Okay, the glowing wasn't going to turn off, and he really wanted it to?? He almost started to stutter something, but thought better of it. It would ruin the moment, or something. He was kind of enjoying being semi-cool for the time being. He never knew he could levitate... dirt. ...Alright, it wasn't the greatest power, but he could do something with it. Bonfire was less weird and staring now, and more just. Weird and not-staring??
Alright, back to his actual job. A... boulder? Alright, he could do that. Something big. And heat-resistant. Metal was good... but experimentally, he tried imagining a small ball of metal and the metal just fell apart. Okay, so that wasn't his niche. He tried levitating more of the earth. He managed to get a good-sized boulder, about as big as he was (and he was a bit above-average, in terms of size). He pulled out the metal and dropped it. He grabbed more earth to fill in the boulder, systematically removing metal until it became a strain to pull up any more. Nice, that was decently-sized.
He held the boulder in place, grunting lightly. If he had to hold this for much longer, he'd drop it and whatever Bon had to release wouldn't have anything to be pushed into. He made eye contact with the magical cat, and tried to send a "go go go go go" signal with his MIND. ...Oh-kay, stop being weird in front of this TOTALLY NOT ATTRACTIVE guy, you aren't going to discover two magic powers in one day.
this post is better imo

Bonfire It seemed to be taking a lot out of Tenir to hold this boulder, but it would work. Bonfire pressed his snout to it, and opened it; letting a giant fireball escape him. Smoke began to fill the area surrounding Bon himself. As the smoke and fire began to escape him, the cat-dragon began to shrink and return to his proper form. After around thirty seconds he had completely returned to a cat. A cat that instantly collapsed against the nearest building-- a place called Indigo's Dance Studio. A sign on the window that Bonfire saw said 'In memory of Totem, Chikka, and Irennial; the best friends a dog could ask for.'
He laughed for a second, coughing on and off, because Totem had not been a good friend. There were pictures, so Bonfire knew that it was the same Totem. He turned back to Tenir, pushing some of his hairtuft out of his eye.
"You probably think I'm a monster, don't you." He murmured, looking away once he spoke. Everyone who wasn't a sibling who saw the Dragonfyre form thought him a monster. "I'll leave you alone, you don't have to look at me. I really am a monster. What if I had hurt someone, with my carelessness... heh. Sorry. I'll... I'll just go home then."
The lonely cat began to pad towards his home, blinking back the steaming tears. Forcing himself to stay calm. This was why he never let himself get excited about maybe having friends. They always ended up seeing his Dragonfyre form and running away. Even bad friends, like Totem. The tom-cat exhaled through his mouth, letting a small flame out to make sure he still could, before continuing his trudging walk.

He couldn't see Bon around the size of the boulder, but he could see smoke coming up all around it. And then it stopped, and he could see clawed legs from beneath shrinking down into paws again. Tenir carefully maneuvered the now somewhat-blackened mass into the ground, and with some scraps of energy, redispersed the metal through it. His glow faded, and he was left with a body that was somehow both very tired and somewhat high on magical residue. Just regular old pathetic Tenir again... but Bon seemed so off after that, he was... worried.
He watched Bon stumble backward and hit the wall of a nearby shop. Ten stumbled over there to make sure he was okay, and heard incoherent laughing. He wasn't sure why, but right now, that wasn't the issue - Bon looked so dejected, and tired, and... he listened to him call himself a monster. But...Bon was so confident and strong and adventurous and amazing! Why would he...? He-he said he'd leave Ten alone, that Ten didn't have to look at him, he apologized so much, he said he'd... go home now...
He got up and began to walk away...
Tenir, creation of Niekada, couldn't stand for this. This was a disgusting effect of some sort of bigotry towards him. And in no way. Did Bonfire. Deserve bigotry.
Ten began to run over, his own heavy steps sending little tiny shocks through his heart that he really couldn't worry about right now because a hot guy was in trouble. "Wait." ...No going back now.
"You're not a monster, you're not disgusting, you don't need to apologize for anything, I would have let you walk away on any other terms but that is ridiculous, please stop walking away I really hate running and I'm really not too terribly fast,"

Bonfire The tom-cat was still trudging along, his ears flattened to his head and his tail between his legs in shame when suddenly Tenir popped up again. The two-legged creature was panting and talking to him, saying not to go. That he wasn't a monster. Bon shook his head and looked away. However, he did stay still for the other creature, so as to not cause Tenir to harm himself trying to keep up with Bon.
"Yes, I am. Didn't you see what I just did? The shops and street in this area will never be the same. And I could've KILLED you! If it wasn't for... whatever it was that you just did... we probably wouldn't be having this conversation, because one of us would be dead and the other seriously injured physically or mentally. Either I'd have released the fireball into your face and then felt guilty about it forever, or I'd have exploded and the explosion would have caused third degree burns all over you." Bonfire responded, looking directly towards Tenir. "And I could accidentally return to that form any moment now-- leave me be!" Bonfire began to continue trudging along, even his usually so bright and pointy tail seemingly dimming, and drooping.
The cat glanced up only once to see and make sure that he was headed towards his home, and when he was sure that it was the right direction, Bonfire continued to look down at his paws.

Bon stopped walking away, fortunately, but continued to sulk. Tenir could think of an objection to every sentence he said. Conviction, momentary and likely a side-effect of the adrenaline and residual magic still coursing through his veins, let him speak. "No, you're not," he said firmly. "Everything rebuilds itself, given enough time. That's what the v-" he stopped himself midway through saying 'the void', suddenly a lot more self-conscious. He hadn't had a... normal upbringing, and he understood enough of the interplanary mechanics involved in his existence to know that he wasn't a normal being, and really shouldn't exist, but you know that made sense because it meant he was a mistake of nature-
Stop. There's more important things. He continued, more nervously, more carefully. "my parents. That's what my parents taught me- a-about the. Um. Rebuilding. A-and, I trust you! You wouldn't have killed me! I-I'm not even sure th-that I c-can be. K-killed, that is - maybe, t-technically, um, here, ah. I'm sorry, that's boring-" Focus, Tenir, focus, nobody wants to hear about the positioning of your birthplace in relation to the physical universe and how that relates to your mechanics. Moving on.
"U-um. Anyway. Th-that's not even, ah, important! You're f-focusing on that one possi-possibility, um, way too much. Without, ah, without... without your. Your thing, um, happening, I c-couldn't have found out about my magic! A-and monsters couldn't, um, wouldn't, t-try to save me. Hurt th-themselves. Trying to, to save me. That... th-that, um, you know. Holding in the fire. Is your throat okay? I can still get some, uh, water or something? F-for you? From my flat, I, have some..." He was sort of mumbling by this point, and trailed off at the end, and suddenly felt really stupid, and Bon was walking away anyway, he'd started leaving halfway through his rambling. Because your rambling is stupid, Tenir. Stop rambling. He has water in his own home. And his siblings can take care of him. And they're way better company than you are. He should really start heading back towards his own flat.
He started heading back home to unpack. ...He wasn't even sure why he'd come out here in the first place, at this point.
His steps were still too heavy.
both of them need to Stop™
